What is GMAT?
GMAT is an exam that plays an important role in the business school application. It is a multiple-choice, computer-based test. Business schools look for your GMAT scores, work experience, and other materials to select you. A high GMAT score will have a positive impact on your application.
What is the pattern of GMAT?
GMAT usually consists of four sections.
- Analytical writing assessment
- Integrated Reasoning
- Quantitative
- Verbal
This exam typically tests your basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry, data analysis, and some Basic English grammar. It also measures your thinking ability and evaluates your writing skills.
Analytical Writing — The only part of the exam which is not multiple choices and it asks you to write an essay on a given topic. You are given 30 minutes of time for this.
Integrated Reasoning — It consists of 12 questions with 4 different types of questions, which include table analysis, multi-source reasoning, and two-part analysis. However, this section is not computer adaptive but multiple choices are there. The total time given is 30 minutes.
Quant Section- It contains 31 maths questions where it tests your data sufficiency and problem-solving ability. The time given is 62 minutes to the whole section and is a computer adaptive section.
Verbal Section- It has 36 questions in total and it covers sentence completion, critical reasoning, and reading comprehension. This is a computer adaptive section and has 65 minutes of time.
How GMAT is scored?
The scores range from 200–800. Verbal and Quant sections range from 0–60. Most of the test takers score between 400–600. Scores for AWA are based on an analysis of one’s argument essay. It ranges from 0–6. The total score is based on your overall calculated performance. The raw calculation of each section is converted to a number of the total score range.
What is a good score on GMAT?
A total score of 650 is usually considered to be a safe and good score. But it depends on which university you are targeting. GMAT plays a crucial role, but this exam alone doesn’t get you into the university. There are other factors to be considered like essays and academics.
How to register for GMAT?
You can register 6 months before the test date. You can also register 24 hours before the exam date. But, slots may not be available at the last moment. So, it’s better to book it beforehand. You can register it online, by phone, and by postal mail also.
When do I apply to GMAT?
There is no specific date to write the GMAT, you can book the slot whenever you are ready. In case if you feel like re-taking the examination, 16 days time between your previous date is necessary.
What is the fee of GMAT?
The fee of GMAT is $250, i.e. 17000 rupees in INC. If you want to reschedule the exam an extra 50$ charge is necessary.
